About the data

AhmedabadRent is an anonymous, crowdsourced map of what people actually pay for rent in Ahmedabad. Asking prices on listing sites are often higher than what tenants end up paying, so the numbers here come from tenants themselves.

How rents are collected

Anyone can tap the map and answer “What rent are you paying?” with their BHK, monthly rent and optionally deposit, maintenance, furnishing and society. No account is needed, and no name or contact detail is asked for rent reports.

Privacy

Each pin is rounded to about 100 m so it never points at a specific flat. Contact details on flat listings and seeker posts are stored privately and never published.

Quality checks

Reports outside a sanity range for their size are rejected:

  • 1 BHK: ₹3,000 – ₹80,000 a month
  • 2 BHK: ₹5,000 – ₹1,50,000 a month
  • 3 BHK: ₹7,000 – ₹3,00,000 a month
  • 4 BHK: ₹10,000 – ₹5,00,000 a month
  • 1 RK: ₹2,000 – ₹40,000 a month
  • 5+ BHK: ₹15,000 – ₹10,00,000 a month

Demo pins used while the map was being built are excluded from every statistic.

How the numbers are calculated

Each report is assigned to the nearest neighbourhood centre within 4 km. Area pages show the median rent for each BHK, and the 25th–75th percentile range once there are at least four reports. Medians are used instead of averages so a single unusual flat doesn’t skew an area. An area page is only listed for search engines once it has at least three reports.

Limitations

The data is self-reported and areas with few reports can be noisy. Treat the numbers as a guide for negotiating, not a valuation.
